My name is Nazia Azamy. I am a graduate from the University of California, Davis. I acquired two Bachelor’s, one in Psychology and one in Middle East/South Asian Studies.I was born in Afghanistan, and raised in the US.
I have had my own fair shares of life tragedies and experiences, which led me be very passionate about advocating for Mental Health, and helping others in need. I have volunteered in many non-profit organizations, including Project Homeless Connect, Sheperd’s Gate, Make-A-Wish, and many more. I have a diverse work background, from the Medical field, to Dental, to the Tech field. I feel all of my experiences combined have led me to be where I am today.
I have learned to be more patient in understanding people. I have learned to become more successful in how I interact with people, and have had the easy ability to hold long-term relationships and bonds with work clients. Mainly, I have learned to be more understanding and kind, because, until you really take the time to talk to someone, do you truly understand what they must be going through and how you can help.
Choosing to be a part of Assuaged was a very simple decision for me. Cynthia and Thane’s mission is not only empowering, but it also hold’s a strong message of hope. We truly can overcome any battle in life regardless of the circumstances, and challenges life throws at us.
To quote one of my favorite poets Rumi,“You were born with potential. You were born with goodness and trust. You were born with ideals and dreams You were born with greatness. You were born with wings. You are not meant for crawling, so don’t. You have wings. Learn to use them and fly.”
