                     What is Peppermint?

Essentially, peppermint is an aromatic plant that is the result of the combination of water mint and spearmint. Usually, it is used in foods for flavor, cosmetic products, hygiene products, and in some cases, for medicinal purposes.

Others also brew tea with dried, peppermint leaves; whether by itself or mixed with other flavors. Not only is peppermint a source of a cool, refreshing relief when sourced in body lotion, for example, but they also offer various benefits.

Benefits of

Many confuse peppermint and spearmint. The easiest way to remember is that peppermint is a stimulant while spearmint is a sedative. While peppermint helps with relieving skin irritation, spearmint is the anticonvulsant and encourage the flow of white blood cells in the circulatory system.

                     Risks and Precautions

There are some risks to note such as that peppermint oil can be too strong and the skin and this should be diluted when used. There is also a possibility of peppermint interacting with other herbs and medicines and therefore should be checked by the individual before use. In addition, some people are allergic to peppermint and can also trigger side effects.

                               Summary

Although it is not encouraged for people with hernia, GERD, irregular heartbeat, and anemia, peppermint can still be enjoyed by many for its beneficial uses. As a go-to relief, peppermint tea is the most popular form of intake.
