Homemade soy milk is not only creamy and delicious, it’s also packed with the nutrients your body needs. You can use it in your favorite baking recipes as a vegan alternative to dairy, and even add it to your morning smoothie, coffee or tea!
How To Make Soy Milk From Scratch
It’s surprisingly easy to make your own soy milk at home! This delicious recipe only requires 4 simple ingredients. The benefit of making it yourself means that you can control the consistency and sweetness of the soy milk according to your taste buds, along with knowing you're drinking only pure healthy goodness.
Pro Tips:
- Make sure to use fresh beans, and soak for at least 10 hours in order to make them easier to blend.
- If you have some cheesecloth handy, you’ll want to use that for the smoothest soy milk possible. If not, a fine mesh strainer will work too!
- Before cooking, you can remove the outer skin if you prefer less of a “bean” taste.
- Make sure to scoop up any film that might be on the surface after the milk is cooked. You can toss it or use it while cooking.
Don’t be afraid to make this recipe your own! Try using more or less water, depending on how creamy you want it to be. If you want to add some flavor, we recommend adding in a bit of amazing vanilla protein powder or vanilla flavored agave nectar.
How Long Does Homemade Soy Milk Last?
You can keep your soy milk in the fridge for 3 days, or in the freezer for up to 6 months.
Need to make a smaller batch? Just cut the recipe in half! (¼ cup soybeans and just one cup of water, a pinch of salt and one tsp of agave.)
